Charming Bird Whistler by ~cheryl on deviantART
We were supposed to meet at 1000 for our arranged shooting appointment. At the end we met at 1330 had a little lunch then went hunting for rolls of film first.
Aliff was ironically full of optimism urging us to watch the Black Sabbath which I hoped greatly he was just fooling around about.
Stanley told us a horrible story of ants infesting his SLR which he stored in a bag and left it untouched for about a month or so. They crawled into the film compartment and left a nasty nest of white ant eggs, urgh! Later he realised he had dead ant bodies in his view finder and maybe even his lens.
We took a random bus outside of Cityhall and alighted in an unknown part of ChinaTown. We had a little fun walking around the shop houses looking at opium pipes, chess sets with Chinese war soldiers as the pieces, postcards, jewellery boxes and a adorable bird whistle. The number of elderly people who populated the flats which looked more like slums gave a huge sense of nostalgia, the ones you would only imagine at war memorials.
Places we visited when we were young; changed and yet a chimerical familiarity.
We walked on further out of Chinatown, we had to make difficult choices of going left, right or straight. The sad part about Singapore no matter how far you go, most of the time you end up at a place that seems awfully familiar. You get so confused at where exactly you are and end up making jokes that you're lost and trapped on this little island.
The weather was insane and I picked the wrong day to wear a black dress the only consolation I had was that my legs are free from tight denim.
Oh we ended up at Tanjong Pagar and we do not know how.
In the end, I only used 21 shots, I don't know what am I supposed to do with the other 15 frames but I want to get the film developed soon.
After that we got to VivoCity, shared Carl's Jr and then sat on the grass talking about Governments, countries, societies, new generations, UFOs, religions, conspiracies. We're actually a mighty bunch of informed kids and keep ears to the ground.
